By reusing many of the products already created--such as aluminum, glass, paper, and plastic--we can reduce energy consumption.

Recycling 1 ton of paper saves 17 trees, 2 barrels of oil (enough to run the average car for 1,260 miles), 4,100 kilowatts of energy (enough power for the average home for 6 months), 3.2 cubic yards of landfill space, and 60 pounds of air pollution. Source, Trash to Cash

Outdoor Adventure Tour

Brevard Zoo offers kayaking trips around the area led by trained naturalists. This unique experience is great for visiting family or reunions, corporate outings, tour groups and special groups of 6 or more. Call for available dates.

Paddle around the local waterways, including Manatee Cove on Merritt Island and Sebastian River. Enjoy up-close encounters with a variety of wildlife including pelican, osprey, eagle, roseate spoonbill and reddish egret. Guests may also encounter manatee, dolphin, sea turtles, horseshoe crabs, and more, depending on the tours!

Kayaking Trips

Choose from two locations, each featuring a variety of animals and habitats.

Manatee Cove, Merritt Island

Two-hour kayak tours (includes snack, and water)
9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

  • Member $25.00
  • Groups of 10 or more $25.00

Sebastian River, Sebastian

Four-hour kayak tour (includes lunch, snack, and water)
9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
COST:

  • Non-member $50.00
  • Member $45.00
  • Groups of 10 or more $45.00

Kayak tours are for ages 8 and up; children ages 8 to 12 must ride in the boat with an adult (18 ). Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult on tour.

Lagoonadventures.org

Brevard Zoo just launched a brand new website encouraging families to get out and experience the Indian River Lagoon as well as the many additional natural resources available in Brevard County. As an incentive to get out there and have fun, the website will feature monthly nature mysteries families can only solve by visiting sites up and down the Indian River Lagoon.
