This summer, Get Outdoors and visit the Indian River Lagoon. Take the family camping, fishing, hiking, birding, kayaking, bike riding, and more! Brevard Zoo has a special site completely devoted to Summer Fun on the Indian River Lagoon. Visit LagoonAdventures.org to learn about exciting venues to take the family to this summer and plan one-of-a-kind adventures. Most recommended venues are absolutely FREE and provide great experiences for the whole family to enjoy.
LagoonAdventures.org website provides all the details needed to plan a trip. This summer, we'll highlight a new site to visit every couple weeks. We hope your family will make several trips to the Lagoon, come back to the site and share your stories. Let other families know your favorite spots along the Lagoon and other easy and accessible ways to experience nature in the county.
LagoonAdventures.org and the associated national campaign of "No Child Left Inside" is aimed at getting families outside exploring nature. Brevard County is blessed with abundant access to parks, trails, and wild places. Most families live just a few miles from the Indian River Lagoon. However, children in Brevard County, like children across the country, are spending less time playing outside, which has been found to have serious physical and emotional implications for children.
LagoonAdventures.org partners involved include Brevard Public Schools, Brevard County Parks and Recreation, Coastal Charities, Inc., Florida Today, Health First, and St. Johns River Water Management District.
See you Outdoors!
