Holiday Happenings

During regular Zoo hours and available to the public at no additional charge besides admission, please join us Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 19 and 20, for our annual gifts to the animals, along with games and craft stations for the kids, music, and chance to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus. Activities run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each daily and Santa will visit from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Then on Dec. 21, the Zoo will debut its fourth annual Animal Homes of the Imagination art installation exhibit featuring seven ephemeral art creations representing impressive homes for some of the Zoo animals (Zoo animals will not actually use the homes.) The special exhibit runs through Jan. 4. Complete monthly activity details listed below: 

Holiday Shopping Extravaganza Night Hikes
December 5 and 19
Need time to get ready for the holidays? Sign your kids up for a night hike at the Zoo, while you shop, wrap presents, or just relax! We've created two great nights in December where children can shop for everyone on their holiday lists in the Zoo's gift shop, go on a night hike safari in the Zoo, make a craft, and have pizza for dinner.
Time: 5 to 9 p.m.
Ages: 4 to 12 years
Cost: $20 for Zoo members and $22 for non-members

Parent's Day Out
December 12
Let your kids have a day of fun at the zoo while you go and shop for the holidays. Children will enjoy an up close animal encounter, fun games, and a cool craft ! We will provide pizza for lunch.
Time: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Ages: Kindergarten through 6th grade
Cost: $25 for Zoo members and $27 non-members

3-Day Winter Break Camp
December 28, 29, and 30
This winter break, we will offer a three-day Zoo camp. Children in grades kindergarten through sixth grade can participate from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m! Campers will discover what animals need to have fun, how animals adapt in different climates, and explore animal mysteries as they tour the Zoo. The camp includes crafts, games, animal encounters, and more. Cost is $130 for Zoo members and $150 for non-members.

New Year's Eve Twilight Spectacular
December 31
Children ages 7 to 12 will enjoy a “Wild and Crazy” night with our Zoo friends and ring in the New Year! While you enjoy the night out on the town, your children will have a sensational evening with us. Make sure they tell their friends!
Time: 5 p.m. to 10 a.m.
Cost: $55 for Zoo members and $60 for non-members

Safari Under the Stars
The Zoo’s annual fundraising gala is set for Saturday, April 24, 2010 (rain date is May 1), at 6:00 p.m. Join us for one of the county's most premiere events. This signature event hosts signature cocktails, wonderful food, fun music, silent and live auctions, a raffle for a fabulous collection of wines and a piece of jewelry, and of course, a chance to meet some of the Zoo’s most popular animals. Check back in January for complete details.


Summer Saturday Nights
Beat the summertime heat every July and August as the Zoo stays open until 9 p.m. every Saturday during these two months. Most of the animals are out on exhibit until dusk (but some do go in such as the birds, rhinos, anteater, and some of the monkeys), take a sunset kayaking tour, ride the train, and listen to music. Paws On, The Wildlife Detective Training Academy, and the Aviary will be closed at night. Summer Saturday Nights begins at 5 p.m. every Saturday in July and August. Last admission is 8 p.m. During Summer Saturday Nights, guests will not be permitted to bring outside food or drink into the Zoo.


Reptile Weekend
Visit Brevard Zoo over Labor Day weekend from September 4-6, and get up close and personal with the Zoo's many reptiles and amphibians. Reptile Weekend showcases the world of herps and identifies the important role these animals play in keeping our planet healthy and balanced. Check back in July to learn more about this special event.


Great Tastes of Suntree
Join us Saturday, September 18, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. for our annual Great Tastes of Suntree event hosted by the Rotary Club of Suntree and Brevard Zoo. This annual food and beer/wine tasting extravaganza is a one-of-a-kind experience at the Zoo. Guests can sample food from more than 35 area restaurants as well as sample beer and wine at our tasting. Enjoy live music and visit with some of our fun-loving Zoo animals until dusk. Tickets go on sale August 1 and tickets are always available at the door.
